Fund Development Manager
Job Description
Overview of Position:
The Fund Development Manager is a new position at the Eastside Heritage Center, with the chief responsibility for directing and implementing the EHC’s emerging development activities. The Fund Development Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Trustees and appropriate Board Committees to establish membership and development goals, and to execute an annual cycle of corporate, foundation, individual and special event fundraising.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual campaign, focusing on the
identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, corporate and foundation benefactors.
- Work closely with EHC Trustees and volunteers to support their involvement in the fundraising process.
- Prepare materials and implement process of donor and sponsor solicitations for Special Events (in particular, the EHC’s annual Bellevue Strawberry Festival), including all correspondence, invitations, and acknowledgements.
- Conduct donor prospect research and solicitation of donors, maintain accurate records, and facilitate meetings and correspondence between prospects and organization.
- Develop and implement strategies for effective donor recognition.
- Work with Board Development and Fund Development committees to set overall
strategies and identify board member participation in fundraising.
- Assist with Membership cultivation and retention.
- Assist with grant proposals and reports, by providing required documentation and
clerical support
- Identify potential contributors and/or sponsors for special projects (e.g. exhibits,
newsletter, etc.).
- Monitor trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as
necessary
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the mission and vision of the Eastside Heritage Center.
- Bachelor’s degree, plus three (3) or more years of proven fundraising experience in the non-profit sector preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to take initiative and demonstrate creativity
- Exhibit professional demeanor
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to determine an individual’s interests, capacity and potential for helping the EHC meet its goals and act appropriately to tie those interests with the EHC’s work.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and database management.
Conditions:
- Reports to Executive Director
- Position is part-time (avg. 20 hrs/wk), year-round.
- Schedule is flexible, but availability during regular business hours is preferred.
- Salary range (depending on experience): $15,000 to $20,000 annually
