• Flying fish - Create a flying fish kite and learn about the history of the Japanese community in Bellevue

• Butter Churn - Try your hand at churning butter and learn about other pioneer chores

For those who would prefer a hands-off experience, we’ll have grab-and-go activities available upon request.

Join us for a Night with the Collection at McDowell House! You’ll have the opportunity to view a curated sample of our object and archive collection and speak with our Collections Manager about the material. Light refreshments will be provided.

Attendance cost is $15

Come celebrate the completion of the Historical McDowell House’s 100th year. This two story structure was built using some of the last lumber to come out of the Wilburton Mill in 1918 by John H. and Ella McDowell. Over the decades the house was sold to a series of owners until it was bought by the City of Bellevue in 1988. It is now the headquarters of Eastside Heritage Center.

Come visit the house and learn more about this historic landmark on Saturday, August 24th. Enjoy historic displays, children’s activities, and share with us in honoring the history of the Eastside.
