Bellevue Farmers Market Cookbook
Bellevue Farmers Market Cookbook
Think globally, act locally… eat locally!
With the resurgence of farmers’ markets, it is quite easy to know where your food is grown and know the people who grow it. Today there are nearly 5,000 farmers’ markets across North America.
Bellevue has a history of agriculture: an abundance of orchards, vineyards, and flower fields once covered the sites of present-day skyscrapers and shopping malls. Today blueberries are still grown within the city limits, and in recent years, the Strawberry Festival, which began in 1925, was welcomed back into the community. It was inevitable that Bellevue would support its own farmers’ market. The Bellevue Farmers Market became a reality with the ringing of a bell at high noon on June 17, 2004.
