Hike through the flora of Mercer Slough and discover its natural history!
This hike is for people who are curious and generally excited by local plants and places, and the stories they have to tell. Join Pacific Science Center as we partner with Eastside Heritage Center at Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center in Bellevue to bring you a relevant look into the history of Mercer Slough Nature Park.
Learn how the land was shaped and used by the indigenous peoples of the Lake Washington shoreline, then grab a plant identification guide and step outside into the present-day Mercer Slough wetland. You will learn to understand and recognize the differences in plant guides and practice your own plant identification with local flora experts. Eastside Heritage will supplement our guides with knowledge of the cultural uses and stories of the present-day plants. Bring your wetland, closed toed footwear and your open mind ready to learn!
